The last designated cadet world cup for the 2011-2012 season was held in London. MICHAEL COSTIN finished 9th and ANASTASIA PINESCHI 16th in the individual events. AGFC fencers were part of both team events. The US women's team won bronze with ANASTASIA PINESCHI team captain (also on the team SOPHIE KEEHAN from PA, JOANNA LEW from NC and HALEY FISHER from GA). The US men's team won gold and was composed of AGFC fencers ALEX REY PALABRICA and MICHAEL COSTIN, along with ISAAC BUCHWALD from Northern CA and ALISTAIR DELCHAMPS from AL.

MICHAEL COSTIN wins both, Cadet and Junior events, bringing home two gold medals. ASIA PINESCHI finishes 6th in Cadet and 14th in Junior events. MILA WOLPERT wins two bronze medals in the Youth 14 and Cadet events, and DAVERY JOSO wins bronze in Youth 12 event.

 

ASIA PINESCHI wins 2nd place with US team mates SOPHIE KEEHAN and JOANNA LEW. In the individual event MICHAEL COSTIN finishes 10th, ALEX PALABRICA 28th and ASIA PINESCHI 37th.

 

MICHAEL COSTIN finishes 3rd, ALEX PALABRICA 18th and ASIA PINESCHI 19th. This is the first world cup in the three designated international tournaments in the qualifying process for the cadet team that will represent the US at the World Championships in 2012.

GERARD MORENO wins gold in foil and saber wheelchair events.

GEOFFREY LOSS fences fantastic in pools finishing 4th, and then loses his second direct elimination finishing 9th in the Men's Saber Cadet event at the World Championships. Congratulations, Geoffrey, on your great accomplishment!

GEOFFREY LOSS wins silver in the cadet event and qualifies as second on the cadet saber team to represent the US at the Junior & Cadet Fencing World Championships in Jordan at the end of March. MICHAEL COSTIN medals as well as he finishes fifth. Results.

AVA ROSE BEECH  places third in the women's event. The high schoolers women's event is won by ANASTASIA PINESHI, followed by her club team mates SARAH GRUMAN and SANDHYA NADADUR, and the men's event finished with JOSIAH YIU first and MICHAEL LEUCHTER second. In the 2009 - 2010 fencing season Geoffrey Loss has been very close to earning his "B" rating several times. His hard work paid off at the 2010 Okawa Open when Geoffrey not only earned his rating, but also won the saber tournament itself. In the quarter finals Geoffrey won the bout 15-11 against Chris Bonner of UC San Diego, and then in the final bout Geoffrey defeated Jonathan Ott, of UC San Diego as well, by 15-14. Geoffrey, a resident of Orange County and primary member of South Coast Fencing Center, has recently chosen Avant Garde Fencers Club as his secondary training home. His passion for saber is incredible and does not stop him from commuting from Orange County several times a week.
